Designed by Frank Butler and Gerry Douglas, the Catalina 36 Mk II features a modern, well-proportioned hull with a moderate beam and a wing keel configuration. The design prioritizes comfort, stability, and ease of handling, making it suitable for both coastal cruising and offshore passages.
The cockpit of the Catalina 36 Mk II is spacious and well-laid-out, providing ample seating for the crew and guests. It  includes a large cockpit table for outdoor dining and entertaining, as well as easy access to the helm and sail controls, making it convenient for single-handed sailing or short-handed cruising. Below deck, the Catalina 36 Mk II offers a comfortable and functional living space. The interior layout includes a spacious salon with a settee and dining table to port, and a well-equipped galley. The forward cabin features a V-berth, while the aft cabin offers a double berth. There's also a head compartment with a marine toilet and shower.
