Description

Beneteau Figaro Solo
Also known as Figaro I, this iconic racer  was designed by Groupe Finot and Jean Berret as a one-design, single-handed offshore racer, especially for the Solitaire du Figaro race. The race and boat class are named for the sponsor, French newspaper Le Figaro.
The Figaro Solo was the official boat for the Solitaire Figaro race from 1990 - 2002 and 140 boats were built.
The one-design, single-handed race comprises 4 stages on the French Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts with total race distance  1500 - 2000 nautical miles, typically lasting 10 - 13 racing days
Many of today's single-handed and double-handed ocean racing superstars were Solitaire du Figaro winners 25 - 30+  years ago

One features the original tall fractional rig with running backstays & checkstays, rather than the later smaller masthead version. The boat is a joy to sail and race single-handed, double-handed or fully crewed.

Brought to Toronto 15 years ago by a knowledgeable and experienced owner who has continually upgraded the boat and maintained it meticulously.
One is truly unique and a prize worth pursuing! Availability for viewing to be advised in the near future.
